Nation sets Class 4A record as Leeds wins second straight title

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Class 4A state championship is staying in Leeds.

The Green Wave defeated Fayette County 55-7 on Friday in Bryant-Denny stadium. It's the second time in as many years Leeds has won the title and its fourth title overall.

Running back Trey Nation led the way with five touchdowns. He crossed the goal line from one, four, nine, six and 12 yards out. His five scores in one game set a new Class 4A record.

On 27 carries, Nation earned 186 yards.

Brandon Franklin and Tadarryl Marshall also put up points for the Green Wave. Franklin scored on a 10-yard run and Marshall connected with Koi Freeman for a 54-yard touchdown pass for the game's first score.

For the Tigers, Drew Guy managed nearly 200 yards passing. He completed 15-of-30 passes for 196 yards.
