"The Nutcracker," presented by the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers, makes its return to Tuscaloosa Thursday evening, and runs through Sunday, at the Bama Theatre.
TCD has presented the full-length production of "The Nutcracker" every yearsince 1978.
The young dancers in the production have practiced on weekends since September, to bring this classic holiday story to the stage. Ginny Tate May, who dances in the role of "Fritz," says she is glad to help continue this tradition for Tuscaloosa.
"This is just a good way to celebrate how Christmas is coming, and to showcase other people's talents and how much work they've put into showing something to the community," May said.
Chloe Lois Pickrell, who plays the role of "Clara," says as a dancer, this experience is an honor. "I've been wanting to be Clara for a very long time, and I finally got it this year and I was so excited," Pickrell said. "It's so much fun to be in 'The Nutcracker.'"
"You should come see 'The Nutcracker' because it's a really fun show, and I think you would love it, and it's about Christmas," Pickrell said.
