A middle school principal gets punched in the eye when he tries to break up a confrontation between an angry parent and a basketball coach. We're talking to that principal today about the message he has for parents. We'll have the full story at 5.

Gangs in Birmingham

Have you heard of "Trained To Go" or the "Mo Money Mafia"? Those are a couple of the gangs believed to be connected to recent violence in Birmingham. We'll take a closer look.

UAB testing football helmets

UAB announced new research into the safety of football helmets. The study focuses on ways to measure the effectiveness of helmets. We'll explain how they're doing it.
