Good Day Alabama: Nov. 18, 2015

Here's what you saw on Good Day Alabama:

JEH JEH LIVE - The Alabama Civic Chorale presents the 2015 Season Annual Performance of Handel's "Messiah" on Sunday, November 22nd, 2015 at 3pm at the Riverchase United Methodist Church in Hoover. The Alabama Civic Chorale was founded by Earl and Frances Clark, following a trip with their high school and youth choirs to Ridgecrest Music Conference where they sang Messiah. Upon return from the trip, Mr. and Mrs. Clark's groups began to practice together. They often found themselves going from home to home with a pump organ and practicing many nights each week. Their first presentation of Handel's Messiah was during the Christmas season at South Highlands Baptist Church. The size of the chorus started growing and in 1951, the performance was moved to Bessemer High School with about 60 voices. After a few years, the performance moved once more to area churches and now to its present location at Riverchase United Methodist.

ASK THE DOCTOR - Dr. Peily Soong joined us to take viewer questions about their children's health. He also discussed using "time out" properly.
• Do not spank or hit your child as punishment.
• Time-out should last 1 minute for every age of the child.
• Child should stay in time out. If not, you should hold him/her in time out.
• ALWAYS, after the time out is over, talk to the child why they were in time-out.

GARDENING - Fred Spicer, Executive Director of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, discusses what's in bloom now at the gardens including Camellias, fall annuals, fall color, herbs, hollies, Japanese Maples, ornamental grasses, and vegetables.
