TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Students at Shelton State Community College are using their technical skills to help get attention for an important issue: providing food for those who need it.

Shelton State drafting students recently designed and built a replica of the Shelton State Martin Campus dome, using canned food that has been donated through an ongoing drive. The students used AutoCAD to create their design, as part of a class project.

So far, people have donated more than 2,000 cans of food for the drive, organized by Shelton State Community College and the Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors. The food will help stock the food pantry at The Salvation Army in Tuscaloosa.

Donations of canned food may be dropped off at Shelton State through November 23. For more information, contact Holly Elliott at helliott@sheltonstate.edu.
