Man dies after being shot and crashing car into vacant house

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police are conducting a homicide investigation after a shooting in Pratt City.

Police say a black male in his early 20s named Justin Poole suffered multiple gunshot wounds while inside his vehicle. The victim crashed the vehicle into a vacant house at 10th Place and Avenue U, about a block away from where he was shot.

When police responded they found the victim unresponsive. He was transported to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are not releasing the victim's name at this time.

Lt. Sean Edwards says the victim was driving his white Buick in the area when he stopped in the roadway. A white Dodge Charger  pulled up next to the victim, according to Edwards.

Edwards says someone exited the Charger and began firing shots at the victim.

Witnesses told police that the victim tried fleeing the gunfire but crashed into the house two blocks away. The Charger left the scene in the opposite direction.
