Good morning!  Here are some of the stories we are covering for you this morning on Good Day Alabama:

Breaking news this morning out of Bessemer, a crash is causing miles of backup on I-20 westbound. Paramedics and state troopers are on the scene.

The weather is improving, but a wet Friday night into Saturday could be in store for you.  Mickey will tell you what to expect heading out the door today.

Breaking news out of West Alabama:  police in Gordo are looking for suspects who they say robbed a Dollar General!

And happening now in New York, rescue crews search for survivors after a small plane crashed in the water in Queens.

This morning, a Vestavia Hills man is in jail in Ohio accused of fleeing with his son 13 years ago.  It's a bizarre story and as you can imagine the boy's mother is thankful he's safe and alive.

Developing in Bessemer, a pee-wee football team still in disbelief this morning after their season is cut short because of an off-field incident between a couple of parents.

The head of Louisiana's state police force says investigators have spent 12 hours examining forensics following a shooting by city marshals that left a 6-year-old boy dead and his father critically wounded.

A new poll suggests that more Americans disagree with how President Barack Obama has been responding to the threat of the Islamic State group.   The Associated Press-GfK poll says more than 60 percent reject Obama's handling of the threat from militants.

The State Department says 85 to 90 percent of Russian air strikes in Syria have killed moderate opposition forces, and civilians and have done little to stop Islamic State militants.

A gunman in a rooftop apartment in San Diego interrupted air traffic from a nearby airport for several hours Wednesday.  Police say the gunman surrendered after a more than five-hour standoff.

Luke Bryan has again won entertainer of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.  Miranda Lambert won female vocalist of the year, her sixth consecutive win in the category.  We'll take a look at the other big winners from the CMAs!
