Here's what you saw on Good Day Alabama:
JEH JEH LIVE - The Junior League of Birmingham -JLB- is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. As one of the largest volunteer service organizations in Alabama, the JLB has nearly 1,000 active volunteers who contribute more than 50,000 hours of service annually. Its purpose is improving the lives of women and children by working with community agencies to deliver services and assistance to those in need. To ensure consistency and a concentrated level of service, JLB community placements focus on four areas - Education, Financial Stability, Health, Safety and Crisis Intervention - and address one or more of the critical issues identified within each of these impact areas.
The Junior League of Birmingham's Shop Save & Share fundraiser kicks off today! Last year this initiative raised over $100,000. All this money goes directly back into the community to support more than 30 non-profit projects. Shop Save & Share is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! The Junior League of Birmingham's Shop Save & Share event will take place October 21 - November 1, 2015. Starting today participating shoppers will receive a discount at select retailers. The card gives users a 20 percent discount at more than 550 retailers in the Birmingham area, including shops in Trussville, Mountain Brook, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, the HWY 280 Corridor and many other local communities. So many businesses as well as many located behind me in Homewood, are participating this year, more than ever before! Shoppers can purchase a Shop Save & Share Card for $40 online atwww.shopsaveshare.net or at select retail partners during the event. A retail shopping guide, including the retailer's name, locations, description and exclusions accompany each Shop Save & Share Card. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the Shop Save & Share Cards directly support the work of the Junior League of Birmingham and the more than 30 community projects supported by the organization. Beneficiaries of those efforts include the Birmingham Public Library, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the Birmingham Children's Theatre, Girls Inc. and many others. Since its inception ten years ago, the program has generated more than $475,000 in funding for local causes. Every card that is purchased puts $40 back into the community helping women and children in the Birmingham area.

ASK THE DOCTOR - Dr. Gigi Youngblood from Children's of Alabama took viewer questions about children's health. She discussed flu tips:
• Deaths from influenza occur EVERY year in the U.S. and can range from a few thousand in a very mild year to tens of thousands in a severe year.
• The best protection is the flu shot.
• Everyone six months and older should get the flu vaccine.
• The flu shot lowers the risk of catching the flu virus and also lowers the risk of being hospitalized if you do catch it.
• You cannot catch the flu from the flu shot, but your body's immune system might respond to the shot with a low-grade fever and mild body aches.
