TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - A Tuscaloosa County man is now facing charges connected to a robbery that police say left him with life-threatening injuries.
Kelvin Colvin, 36, was charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree robbery after being released from DCH Hospital.
A 30-year-old man was attacked by two suspects who jumped on his back and hit him on the head in the parking lot of the Broadmoor Garden apartments on Friday, Oct. 9 around 11:45 p.m., according to the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit.
The victim was able to go back inside of an apartment but was followed by the two suspects who police identify as Colvin and 26-year-old Latious Kendrick Torres Williams-Shird.
Once inside, the suspects attacked the man and a 19-year-old black female.
The female was able to get to a gun and shoot at the suspects, who then ran out of the apartment.
Police say Colvin was found shot outside of the apartment and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Williams-Shird was later arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree robbery.
Marijuana and a large sum of money were recovered from the apartment.
Colvin is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
