Good evening from the WBRC FOX6 Newsroom. This is Jonathan Hardison with a look at the stories we're working on for you tonight.
I-59 wreck claims a life
As I'm writing this I-20/59 southbound is still shutdown at Malfunction Junction, where it meets I-65, and maybe closed for another couple of hours. Crews have cleared the big sign that fell onto the roadway but they still must clean up the 18-wheeler and all of its cargo before they can re-open the road. John Huddleston has been on the scene since this accident happened and he'll keep us updated live throughout our 90 minutes of news starting on WBRC FOX6 News at 9.
Snake bite at the zoo
Also tonight we're working to get an update on the child bitten by a wild copperhead snake at the Birmingham Zoo today and Sherea Harris is extending this story tonight into how to treat and triage a snakebite if your child is bitten, a danger that's all too common in our area.
