Sobering numbers on bus stop safety and local football refs react to Texas incident

Happy Friday from WBRC FOX6 News! This is Jonathan Hardison with a look at the stories we're working on for you tonight.

New bus stop report

We heard from a lot of you after our report last night talking to Tuscaloosa bus drivers about how many drivers ignore their stop signs at bus stops, and with a 6-year old boy still recovering after a hit and run at a Tuscaloosa bus stop earlier this week, tonight Josh Gauntt is digging into new numbers about just how common reckless drivers at bus stops are and why you need to make sure your kids stay alert even then the red stop sign is flashing.

Referee safety

The video of a Texas high school referee being hit from behind by two players has us asking local refs how safe they are on the field. Christy Hutchings is talking to a Birmingham referee about how he keeps his crew safe between the lines.

SIDELINE!

And speaking of high school football, we know you know what starts tonight at 10:08 p.m.! Karle and Jeh Jeh will break down our games of the week in Fairfield and Gardendale plus highlights and scores from everywhere you care about. You can keep up with final scores in our SIDELINE Plus app.
