BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A family member wants for justice for murder victim Xavier Beasley.
Xavier, 25, was shot and killed in a Home Depot parking lot on Highway 280 after leaving work around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, September 5.
"I'm trying to figure out what, who wanted this. Why," said Laverne Beasley.
Laverne Beasley is Xavier Beasley's aunt, but he's been in her custody since he was 8-years-old. She considers him her son.
She said Xavier was quiet and had never even been in a fight before.
"That was not Za's life," said Beasley. "Za avoided confrontations. He would quickly resolve a matter before it got any further."
All of which is why she can't understand why someone would want to hurt him.
Hoover police say the 25-year-old was shot walking to his car after leaving work on Saturday.
Police say the shooter may have known Xavier and had been waiting on him in the Home Depot parking lot.
"Devastated," said Beasley. "It was the worst thing I could have, the news of him and a violent crime was unimaginable. Especially when you're having a mother having to bury her son. That's not fair."
Laverne is trying accept that he's never coming home again and she's hoping someone knows something about the person who took Xavier from his family.
"Anything, anything we're asking," said Beasley. "If you know anything we need to know because that type of crime doesn't fit Xavier."
Family members will say their final goodbyes Friday. His funeral will be held September 11 at the Agape Missionary Baptist Church in Birmingham.
