PLEASANT GROVE, AL (WBRC) - Pleasant Grove, the No. 3 ranked team in Class 5A, got revenge from last year against Ramsay.
The Spartans beat the Rams 42-35. The Rams scored first when Quarterback sensation Baniko Harley zipped a 29-yard dart to Justin Gipson.
The PAT was no good to make the score 6-0 Rams.
Later in the First Quarter, Justin Acoff got the Spartans on board with a 2-yard run after a big Timothy Coats interception who ran it all the way back to the 2-yard line.
The Rams then took back the lead when Harley threw a back of the end zone touchdown pass to Joshua Horn. The PAT was good and made it 14-6.
Brandon Simmons, the big time running back scored a tough 2-yard run to tie up the ball game at 14 all. But with 20 Seconds left before the half, Baniko
Harley made an unbelievable play.
It was the kind of play only legends make. Harley scored a 20-yard touchdown after running across the field, avoiding tacklers left and right and finally getting in the zone. Ramsay led at the half 21-14.
In the third quarter, sophomore quarterback Miles Mason scored from 7 yards out to tie up the game at 21. Then, Kettrin Lancaster scored for the Rams to take back the lead 27-21.
But Pleasant Grove would not go gently into that good night. They scored three more touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to come back from behind and seal the victory and smell the sweet revenge from last year's upset.
The Spartans are now 2-0, the Rams are even at 1-1.
