The Jacksonville State women's soccer team will hit the road for the first time in 2015 as the Gamecocks will visit the state of Tennessee for a pair of matches.
Jax State will make a stop in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Friday night to face off with Middle Tennessee State before continuing on to Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday for an afternoon match against Lipscomb. The JSU-MTSU contest is slated to kick off at 7 p.m. Sunday's matinee at Lipscomb is set for 1 p.m.
Live stats will be available for both matches at JSUGamecockSports.com. MTSU will be offering a live video stream on Friday.
The Gamecocks will take a 1-1 record in to the weekend matches after opening the season last weekend with a setback to Ball State and bouncing back last Sunday to dispatch Gardener-Webb. JSU posted two goals in the second half to post a 2-1 result. Senior Olivia Drapes and freshman Claire Petersen turned in goals against GWU.
Friday's duel with the Blue Raiders will be the ninth all-time between the two programs on the soccer pitch. MTSU holds a slight 4-3-1 advantage in the series and has won three of the last four contests. The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in 2008 in Jacksonville. The Blue Raiders enter the contest 1-0 after topping Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee Tech last Sunday.
JSU and Lipscomb will be squaring off against each other for the first time since 2003. The Gamecocks have won the two previous meetings against the Lady Bisons. LU, who travels to Cincinnati on Thursday, opened the season with a draw against Tennessee and a win over Ball State last weekend.
