FEELING LIKE FALL THIS MORNING: If you thought yesterday morning was cool just wait until you step outside this morning. Temperatures are running about 10 to 15 degrees below average, with readings in the 50s.  There will be quite a chill across northern counties this morning. At the time of this update the temperature was down to 54 degrees in Hamilton. It won’t take long for temperatures to recover into the comfortable 70s by lunchtime, with highs in the 80s during the afternoon. The sky will remain sunny with a northerly breeze at 7 to 14 mph.

EXPECT THE FALL PREVIEW TO CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY: The dry and cooler weather will continue for the next two days. In fact, low temperatures will be at near record levels again tomorrow morning. Here are the Thursday records: Birmingham 58 degrees, Tuscaloosa 56 degrees, and Anniston 53 degrees. We will continue to enjoy mostly sunny weather, with highs back in the upper 80s by Friday afternoon.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND: Some nice pool-side weather will be returning for Saturday. We will have a partly to mostly sunny sky, with highs in the 80s. The one thing you will notice this weekend is that muggy levels will be on the increase. We will also have hot and muggy weather for Sunday, with a few isolated showers and storms possible during the afternoon. The chance for afternoon showers and storms will continue into Monday and Tuesday of next week.

TROPICAL STORM ERIKA: This morning Erika had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph but the system is forecasted to strengthen over the coming days. The long range forecast shows the system tracking northwest and impacting south Florida late Sunday and into Monday. There is a chance Erika could intensify into a hurricane.
