Money is a sensitive topic at Birmingham City Hall today

Good afternoon from the desk of Janet Hall. Here are the stories we're working on for FOX6 News this evening.

Birmingham City Council pay raise

City councilors are responding today to public outrage over a 233% pay raise they approved for future council members in 2017. How does their pay compare to city council members in cities of similar size to Birmingham? We've been digging for that information today. We'll share it with you on FOX6 News at 5.

"Hot seat" patrol cars

Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper says his officers are literally in a "hot seat"" when they are in patrol cars because the cars are kept in service from one shift to the next. He is asking the city council for less than $2 million to buy more patrol cars. We'll tell you how the council is responding.

Humans of Birmingham

A nationwide social media page is expanding to Birmingham. We'll talk to the photographer behind Humans of Birmingham on FOX6 News at 6.
