Watch out for 2 serial purse snatchers and bad news for U.S. Steel

Good afternoon from the desk of Janet Hall. Here are the stories we're working on for FOX6 News this evening.

Serial purse snatchers

Birmingham Police are looking for two women they believe are working as a team to snatch purses.  Investigators believe they watch outside businesses and choose women to follow and look for an opportunity to grab their purse.  We'll talk to experts about how you can avoid such an attack.

Who wants more gambling in Alabama?

According to a survey by the Alabama Jobs Foundation there is overwhelming support for gambling and a lottery in Alabama. The head of the foundation is Senator Del Marsh who is pushing a new gaming proposal. He received support today from Birmingham businessman Frank Bromberg, Jr. We'll have more on the growing support for a lottery.

U.S. Steel to idle furnace

We learned today U.S. Steel is still planning to idle another furnace in Fairfield.  It is expected to happen in a couple of weeks. This follows cuts and layoffs that were made back in March. We are working now to get reaction.
