Free movie series begins Friday in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - A new free indoor summer movie series begins Friday in Tuscaloosa.

Aside from providing a free movie for families, the goal of the "The Green Scene" is also to educate people about the environment and the importance of keeping the community litter-free.

The series is hosted by The City of Tuscaloosa Environmental Services Department at the Richard A. Curry Jr. Complex, 3440 Kauloosa Ave. Each movie begins at 1 p.m.

Movie Schedule:

  • Friday, July 17: “WALL-E”
  • Friday, July 24: “FernGully: The Last Rainforest”
  • Friday, July 31: “The Lorax”
  • Friday, Aug, 7: “Toy Story 3”

Movie-goers also get a free bag of popcorn and drink, and the opportunity to tour the recycling plant after each movie.

An adult must accompany children under the age of 16, and guests are asked to limit to five children per supervising adult. Groups larger than 10 people, like summer day camps, are asked to call the Environmental Services Department to reserve space for their group.
