PATTI CALAHAN HENRY - The excitement is building for New York Times bestselling author and southern writer Patti Callahan Henry's The Idea of Love, out tomorrow. Patti is a longtime resident of Mountain Brook, Alabama, and both her upcoming novel and summer book tour take place in her beloved south. The Idea of Love has already been hailed by the Lowcountry's Pink Magazine as "a great read that explores heartbreak, grief, truth and lies and reinventing yourself. Patti Henry has a personal style that sweeps you up and keep you engaged as though these people were friends or family members. Set in our beloved Lowcountry, the place is as much a character as the people. You'll wonder what's your idea of love?" In her latest novel, Patti examines if love based on lies can be true. The Idea of Love is a duplicitous and compelling story of love lost and found in unexpected places.
DOUG JONES ON CHARLESTON SHOOTING - This morning Former Federal prosecutor Doug Jones joined us to talk about the Charleston shooting case. Jones was the prosecutor in the Birmingham Church Bombing case. The church shooting in Charleston brings back memories for people in Birmingham. The 16th Street Baptist Church bombing back in September of 1963 was the result of racial hatred...much like it appears the shootings at Emanuel Methodist Episcopal Church may have been. Doug Jones says innocent lives lost at a church can't help but be a deja vu for all the people in Birmingham. He thinks it should be a reminder that although we've come a long way in our social and racial justice we still have a long to go and there are still a lot of hearts and minds to change.
