From the UAB Athletics Department:
Following a four home run, 11 RBI effort last week, redshirt junior catcher Esteban Tresgallo of the UAB baseball team has been named one of the Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball National Players of the Week, the organization announced Monday.
The Guaynabo, Puerto Rico native quickly became UAB's leading slugger at .541 on the year, after grinding out 11 RBI in five games last week, leading the Blazers to a 4-1 record in those five contests.
Tresgallo hit home runs in four-straight games, scored seven runs, tallied seven hits, walked twice and slugged a whopping 1.312 percent.
Tresgallo entered the week with five shots on the year, and got the streak started Tuesday night in the 11-6 win vs. Alabama State.
He then went yard again one night later vs. the Hornets in Montgomery in the 6-4 victory. His hot streak continued in Miami, launching blasts in the first two games of the FIU series to take the team lead with nine on the year.
He went 3-for-4 in game two vs. Alabama State with four RBI and also went 2-for-3 in the middle game of the FIU series with three RBI.
The honor marks the second on the day for Tresgallo, after he earned the first Conference USA Hitter of the Week honor of his career for his performance. The Blazers return to action Tuesday night at Jacksonville State at 6 p.m.
