Here's what you saw on Good Day Alabama today:
LARS ANDERSON - Mike talked with Lars Anderson about the busy sports weekend. They discuss the races at Talladega and what he expects. They discuss the scuffle between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Tony Stewart last week in Richmond. They also discuss the NFL draft and how local football stand-out Jameis Winston was the number one pick! Alabama's Amari Cooper got picked early, too, and heads to the Oakland Raiders. They also discuss the recent abuse allegations against several football players. And they looked ahead to this weekend's big Manny Pacqeaou vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. fight.
BBJ - Mike talks with Ty West from the Birmingham Business Journal about local business headlines. They discuss downtown businesses trying to buy their buildings rather than just renting, how Birmingham's economy progressed in 2014, and Birmingham's technology industry. HOOVER SUPERINTENDENT - Hoover School Board hires a new Superintendent in a unanimous vote. Board members chose Dr. Kathy Murphy who spent several years as the Superintendent in Monroe County. The school board offered Murphy a base salary of $195,000. Murphy accepted the deal yesterday and we talked with her live this morning on the phone about the new job. She is very excited to get started.
AVENGERS - Stan Daniel with Kingdom Comics catch the latest flick - Avengers: Age of Ultron. It hits theaters this weekend and he saw it overnight. Stan says it seems as though Marvel can do no wrong. Age of Ultron raises the bar even higher for this genre. This is now the superhero movie that all others will be measured by. The action starts with the first frame and doesn't end till the credits run. The action does not take away from character development nor script. Each character has several great moments through out the film. Hawkeye steals the show, though. Jeremy Renner makes that character his own. In addition to all of this, Ultron, himself, is a stand out. This is a real Super Villain and if I had one complaint it would be that I want more Ultron. This ties with last year's Guardians of the Galaxy... I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. Avengers: Age of the Ultron is rated PG13 for comic book violence and mild, but humorous, language.
