BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The following is a commentary blog from FOX6 Sports Director Rick Karle:
Many Alabama football fans have been trying to see it, to dream it: Chronic Heisman candidate Braxton Miller of Ohio State transferring to Alabama, leading the Crimson Tide in a national championship game against, well, Ohio State. Could it happen? With rumors rampant that the Ohio State quarterback is considering a transfer, Nick Saban addressed some of those rumors on Tuesday night as the Crimson Caravan touched down in Huntsville.
Asked about the Braxton Miller rumors, Saban said sternly, “I'm not really allowed to talk about any other players on any other team. I know nothing about any such rumors. I don't even know who you're talking about, but I don't know about any of those things.”
But Saban has never ignored a graduate student who may want to join the Crimson Tide for his final year of eligibility. Said Saban Tuesday, “If there were somebody out there that I thought could help our team, we have a spot or two available that we could probably … but it would have to be the right person in the right place that could make a contribution because that would be something that would have to be good for that person and it would have to be good for us,”
During his career in Columbus, Ohio, Miller has thrown for 5,292 yards and 52 touchdowns to 17 interceptions to go with 3,054 rushing yards and 32 scores on the ground. Miller is currently caught up in a three-man battle for the starting quarterback job. Could a young man who is known nationwide as a superb athlete and fine quarterback be on his way to the Capstone? Stay tuned.
