Teen shot, killed in Sylacauga home invasion

SYLACAUGA, AL (WBRC) -

An 18-year-old woman died from gunshot wounds she suffered during a home invasion in Sylacauga late Saturday night.

Police identified the victim as Keiria Reynolds, of Goodwater. Officers discovered her suffering from gunshot wounds at 308 S. Church Avenue at 11:45 Saturday night.

She was pronounced dead at Coosa Valley Medical Center.

A witness described the suspects to police as two black males wearing black hoodies. One suspect is believed to be 5'7” and the other 5'11”.

Investigators say the suspects entered the home through a back door, shot the woman and assaulted another victim in the residence.

Chief Chris Carden released the following statement about the incident:

“This is the second homicide within a week in the same area. I am having a difficult time believing that there aren't people out there who are as tired of this nonsense as I am. This senseless violence has to stop, and we as a community have to work together to develop the leads it will take to close these murders and give the families some peace. People know how to get in touch with me, please pass on any information you may have, you don't have to live afraid. To the families I express my condolences and deepest sympathy for your loss, if you need me I'm here and available to you.”

The investigation is ongoing.
