Getting ready for Friday storms and examining airport perimeter breaches

Good evening from the desk of Jonathan Hardison! I hope you're having a nice evening. Here are some of the stories we're working on tonight:

Airport perimeter breaches

We've all gotten used to slipping off our shoes and sliding our laptops into an extra tray in the TSA line in the airport, we pretty much expect that kind of scrutiny now in exchange for a feeling of safety once we're on our flight. But a new Associated Press investigation we're digging into for Fox6 News at 9 tonight shows there's been almost 300 airport perimeter security breaches in the last 10 years. So what are airports doing to keep their runways and you safe? We'll lay out the major findings tonight on Fox6 News starting at 9.

State worker charged

We're also asking questions tonight about the arrest of an Alabama Forensic Science Technician on drug trafficking charges. This tech worked out of the Hoover regional office, a place our cameras have been allowed into before, and we'll share some of that footage tonight as we're waiting to find out how this could affect current cases being processed in that lab and the questions this may raise about the integrity of evidence inside.

Get ready for storms

And I hope you enjoyed the chirping birds and gentle breezes today because J-P Dice says we're gonna have to pay for that with some rain and a storm or two before we get to a better weekend. He'll have the updated forecast for your next 24 hours tonight on Fox6 News.

I hope you'll join us for these stories and more starting at 9 p.m.! Watch us on air, online at or in the WBRC News app.
