TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The 2015 Southeastern Conference and NCAA Auburn Regional Champion Alabama gymnastics team will compete in the evening session of the NCAA Championships Semifinals Friday, April 17 in the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena starting at 7 p.m. CT, it was announced Monday.
Alabama, which won its ninth SEC title last month, advanced to its 33rd consecutive NCAA Championships on Saturday by winning its NCAA-best 30th regional championship in Auburn, Ala.
The Crimson Tide will face defending NCAA co-Champion Oklahoma along with LSU, Auburn, Oregon State and Nebraska in the semifinal round of the NCAA Championships. Defending NCAA co-Champion Florida and past champions Georgia, UCLA and Utah along with Stanford and Michigan compete in the first semifinal session on Friday starting at 1 p.m.
The top-three teams from each semifinal will advance to the NCAA Super Six Team Final, which gets underway Saturday, April 18 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the Fort Worth-based championships can be purchased at www.fortworthncaa.com.
Alabama will start the semifinal session on the floor exercise and will then move to the vault before taking its first of two byes. After the bye, the Tide will move to the uneven bars and balance beam before sitting a bye during the last of six rotations.
This year marks the seventh in a row that Alabama has competed in semifinal session II. From its semifinal session, Alabama has already faced Oklahoma, LSU and Auburn this season. The Tide has also competed against Florida and Georgia from the afternoon semifinal session. Alabama is a combined 9-2-0 against this year's championship field this season.
