24-vehicle pileup causes major traffic delays on I-59

Good afternoon from the desk of Janet Hall. Here are the stories we're working on for FOX6 News this evening:

Massive Traffic Pileup I-59

24 vehicles were involved in a massive pileup on I-59 North between Springville and Ashville. At least 10 people are being treated for injuries. The accident caused a backup for miles for most of the afternoon. At 4:15 p.m., officials said both lanes of the interstate had reopened. Stay with FOX6 News for any additional details.

Teen Dies Rappelling

Oak Mountain Middle School students are mourning the death of their classmate, Millie Elia, who died in a rappelling accident Saturday. The cheerleader and honor student was in the 8th grade. We'll have the full story on FOX6 News at 5:00.

New Jeffco Satellite Office

Jefferson County and the city of Hoover are looking to renovate and equip a full service satellite office off of Highway 31 in Hoover. It will cost up to $850,000 but will allow taxpayers to get car tag renewals and take care of other county business without going downtown.
