Greetings from the desk of Jonathan Hardison! Happy Friday to those wrapping up the work week. Here are some of the stories we're working on tonight:
Body found in landfill
How did Nelson Jones' body end up in the Black Warrior Landfill? That's what Tuscaloosa County investigators are trying to figure out after he was discovered this afternoon. In an exclusive interview, Jones' wife talks to us about what could have happened to her husband and how her family is trying to deal with this shock.
Verdict in Joyce Garrard trial
We learned just before 8:30 p.m. that a verdict had been reached and is expected to be announced soon in the trial of the Etowah County woman accused of forcing her granddaughter to run laps as a punishment. The state says that ultimately killed young Savannah Hardin. We'll have the latest at 9.
Did you know we're going through a tornado drought right now? There have been zero, nada, no tornadoes in the U.S. at all in the month of March and the number for the year-to-date is also way down. So tonight I'm gonna put J-P Dice on the hotseat to get some answers as to why this is happening and whether the drought will last through spring.
