Police: 1 in custody after shooting in west Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police confirm one person is in custody after a shooting in the western part of the city.

Investigators are on scene in the 1000 block of Tuscaloosa Avenue near Princeton Baptist Medical Center.

Officers on the scene told us that after an altercation, a male suspect opened fire on another man. The victim is in critical condition at UAB Hospital and police said his injuries are life-threatening.

A female in a car was caught in the crossfire and wrecked her vehicle nearby. Police said she was not injured.

The shooting is still under investigation.
