BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) -

Two nursing home workers in Bessemer are facing criminal charges regarding incidents at separate nursing homes.

The Alabama Attorney General's office accuses Latrice Brown of abusing a patient at the Golden Living Center-Meadowood.

Investigators say the former nursing assistant threw an 86-year-old resident onto her bed with the resident's head hitting a side table.

Brown is also accused of jerking a call-button from the resident's hand and causing a cut which needed stitches.

The AG's office says Anita Miller, a bookkeeper at Oak Trace Care and Rehabilitation Center, stole more than $10,000 from the patient trust fund and forged patient signatures to cover up the theft.

The women were indicted in October and will appear in court on January 20 to enter their pleas.
