It's not news colleges students hear very often but at Stillman College, tuition is decreasing.

Stillman College undergraduate students will pay about $5,000 less a year to attend school.

School leaders want to make college more affordable and they also want to encourage new students to consider coming to Stillman College.

The private school is located in Tuscaloosa. Currently, 917 students are enrolled at Stillman and tuition is around $13,500. Meals and housing adds nearly $7,000 more on top of that.

Stillman's Director of Admissions explained how dropping tuition helps students and their families.

"We hope that all of thse students in the state of Alabama and beyond also take a look at Stillman. And now that you can get a good quality four year undergraduate education at a price that wuill be affordable for the families," Joseph Tinsley said.

The tuition drop takes effect in August 2015.
