BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

UAB football supporters again worried about the future of the program.

UAB football has a winning record this year under new coach Bill Clark. Still UAB supporters are worried.

Justin Craft, a former UAB player and current B Club Member, sent a letter to to UAB President Ray Watts expressing those concerns.

"It is our understanding that you are awaiting the results of a "study" being conducted to determine whether to continue the UAB Football Program. We are also aware that a potential contract extension for Coach Clark as well as the scheduling out of conference games past 2016 has been placed on hold. In the B Club's opinion, delaying long overdue capital improvements and Coach Clark's contract extension would potentially jeopardize the future of our football program," Craft wrote.

Birmingham Representative John Rogers, who works for UAB, said the study could be used as an excuse to kill football.

"They are going utilize the attendance and the venue that we are not bring in to do away with it as the reason," Rogers said.

Vestavia Hills representative Jack Williams writes about UAB athletics. Williams said many Blazer supporters believe the board would like to see the football program ended.

"It's no secret everybody knows there has been long term animosity toward the football program at UAB by the board," Williams said.

Williams and Rogers are urging students, faculty and UAB supporters to continue to pressure the board for support. The UA System Board of Trustees will be meeting this week in Tuscaloosa but there is nothing on the agenda about the future of UAB football or the proposed study.
