ANNISTON, AL (WBRC) - Controversy continues to swirl between Anniston's city council and a hospital board.
The city council voted on Wednesday night to remove Greg Kernion as chairman of the board that oversees the non-profit Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.
It comes amid allegations the board has violated open meetings and public information laws, among other things.
The resolution passed by the council mentions city manager Brian Johnson being appointed to the board.
But earlier this week, councilors say that board failed to notify Johnson of a specially called meeting and turned him away from an executive session.
The hospital almost lost patient coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama due to a dispute. However, that dispute has since been resolved.
