FLORA, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Scattered afternoon thunderstorms moved through the Jackson metro area Tuesday afternoon, causing street flooding in some areas.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department said it may have to close some Flora streets if it got any worse.

Others areas affected by the weather include a fire in Brandon at a commercial building caused by a lightning strike, Marquette Road closed from downed power lines on railroad tracks, which were then severed by a passing train, and a transformer down at highway 18 and Orleans Way.

Most rain has moved out of the Jackson area now, and it should be a pleasant night, with overnight lows in the low 70s.

It will probably feel muggy Wednesday morning, as temperatures climb to the low 90s, with a 50% chance of rain.
