JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

On Tuesday, Ronda Robinson addressed two issues at Rudd Middle School in Jefferson County.

A Rudd Middle school parent told us that tryouts are coming up soon but she says the practice field is a big mess.

Based on photos sent to the newsroom from a viewer, the field is in need of a lot of work. They show a field covered in weeds and grass. Ronda shared the pictures with the Jefferson County Board of Education and the school principal.

According to Principal Susan Whitehurst, dirt has been donated to level the field.

"Our next steps are to correct drainage issues, plant grass on the field, prevent erosion on the hill above the field and bring in clay for the infield," Whitehurst said.

Girls softball practice will start in February.

The next concern is about air conditioning. Several parents and teachers at Rudd Middle School say they are suffering in a number of classrooms without AC. Principal Susan Whitehurst is also aware of these concerns.

"We have submitted all of these to the JefCoEd maintenance department. However, with a building that was built in the late 70's, parts sometimes take a bit longer to arrive," she said.

The school is using fans and moving classrooms around. System officials ask for patience and they say they are working as fast as they can.
