BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police need your help tonight in finding the man accused of running down a mother of three, threatening a witness, and leaving the scene of the accident.

Police have secured arrest warrants for 25-year-old Sylvester Taylor. He is wanted for manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

At this time, police don't know where he is, but they believe someone else knows and they're asking them to come forward with his whereabouts tonight.

Police believe Taylor was driving the car involved in a fatal hit and run the morning of Thursday, August 14. It happened around around 12 a.m. in the 9500 block of Parkway East in Birmingham.

Authorities say 34-year-old Angela McCall was out walking at that time.

Her family says she was upset about some recent news she'd received about her nephew's health and wanted to take a walk.

While she was out, authorities say Taylor came by in his black Grand Prix, jumped the curb, and hit and killed McCall.

They say his actions after that were reprehensible.

"Not only was it heinous, but the fact it was so reckless when he stops the vehicle, gets out, he doesn't render aid, instead, he pulls out a gun, threatens winesses before driving away," Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper said.

Chief Roper said that after threatening witnesses, Taylor pulled the license plate off the car and then took off.

"And so with his total disregard for life, he'll do it again. So we need the public's help and I believe we can get to him pretty quickly," Roper said.
