JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office says that a body found on July 23 is that of a missing veteran.

Gregory Singleton, 61, of McCalla, was reported missing on July 1. At that time, family members said Singleton told them he wanted to visit his childhood home in Dolomite.

According to his family, Singleton suffered from schizophrenia. He was living with his sister due to his mental illness and high blood pressure.

Singleton was spotted near the Hoover Met on July 4, according to Jefferson County deputies.

His body was discovered off of Lowetown and Pineview roads by a man who was bush hogging.

The coroner had no other details to share at this time.
