Voter challenges results in Brown-Smoot runoff

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A voter is challenging the runoff results in the district two county commission runoff between incumbent Sandra Little Brown and Shelia Smoot.

That voter claims his vote was not counted during the vote certification on Tuesday.

During the certification process, Smoot picked up five votes, leaving her only 26 votes behind Brown.

With this challenge, Chairman Richard Mock says he has to appoint a committee to investigate and notify both candidates about it.

If one side doesn't like the results of the investigation, it can be appealed to the state committee.
