ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A Southside woman has been arrested on charges of chemical endangerment of a child after authorities say she admitted to using methamphetamines.

The Etowah County Sheriff's Office says 36-year-old Christina Goodson Amberson of Southside was charged on July 16 with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed.

Officials say Amberson admitted to using methamphetamine. She is approximately five months pregnant.

According to the Sheriff's office, this is the second time she has been arrested on the same charge.

"It is simply unacceptable for an adult to endanger an innocent child's life," states Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin. "As women continue to put their child's welfare in jeopardy, we will continue to arrest them."

Amberson is currently at the Etowah County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
