Crushed bus to send political message

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A crushed bus with a political message is on display in Louisville.

Congressman John Yarmuth and other leaders rallied by the Ohio River Friday to try and pass a long-term bill to better fund infrastructure.

Yarmuth said Congress needs to pass the Highway Bill and gas tax to fully fund Kentucky’s roads and bridges.

The event showcased a bus crushed by a bridge collapse to prove a point that without enough funding the country's infrastructure will crumble.

Yarmuth said the current temporary fix is not enough, “We've become the laughing stock of the world. We have bridges deteriorating like the Sherman Minton, and the only way we can combat that create the kind of infrastructure that can serve us for the future is to have a long-term spending plan.”

The "getting schooled" bus is on a tour across the country to spread the message.
