WALKER COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A man charged with murder in Walker county is waiting to be extradited back to Alabama after cutting his ankle monitor and fleeing to Nevada.

U.S. Marshals caught Johnny L. Cordell in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.

He is charged in the January 2014 death of Walker County resident Sherman Willis.

Cordell was released from jail in June and a few days later authorities say he cut off the monitoring device and fled.
