Motorcycles collide, 2 injured in Jerusalem Township crash

JERUSALEM TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two people were injured early Sunday morning following a motorcycle crash in Jerusalem Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:35 a.m. on Corduroy Road, just east of Howard Road.

Troopers say Eddie Luce, 43, and Paul Herbster, 43, both of Curtice, were eastbound on Corduroy when Luce slowed down in order to avoid hitting a pedestrian walking in the roadway.

That's when Herbster struck Luce's motorcycle from behind. Both motorcycles then overturned, ejecting the drivers and each of their passengers.

Herbster suffered minor injuries, but his passenger, Karen Janowiecki, 43, of Toledo, suffered life-threatening injuries.

Luce was not injured in the crash. His passenger, Lori Luce, 44, was transported to Bay Park Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Janowiecki was transported to St. Charles' Hospital and later St. Vincent's in Toledo for treatment. An update on her condition has not yet been released.

The crash is still under investigation. Troopers say alcohol likely played a factor.

Good news for Cullman shoppers: several stores damaged in the March hail storm are set to open in the next couple weeks. The parking lot is still pretty empty, but the store signs are fixed, the roofs have been repaired, and instead of 'closed' signs, there are now signs that say 'coming soon.'
