CARS UNDER $18,000 - The expert editors from Kelley Blue Book, the only vehicle valuation and information source trusted and relied upon by both consumers and the automotive industry, have just named the 2014 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000! While many inexpensive cars are decidedly uncool, the world's auto manufacturers are putting more personality and distinction into their lower-priced offerings. Not only have small cars never looked so good, but they also have never been more filled with cool content. Two criteria -- fun-to-drive and fun-to-own -- are critical among the deciding factors of what the editors freely admit is a very subjective "cool factor," the over-arching number-one criterion for a vehicle to place on this list. Each vehicle is available for purchase at $18,000 or less. Micah Muzio, managing editor for Kelley Blue Book, revealed the list of the 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000 of 2014. He offers his tips for finding the perfect new car at the right price, and give us a first look at a few of this year's featured cars. ROB LOWE - Actor and author Rob Lowe is like so many of us.... his parents are aging and he is concerned about their long term care. Through his efforts with his own family he became involved with the Let's Talk campagin for long term care. He shared some startling statistics and reveals that most Americans are financially unprepared for a "healthy retirement." Rob teams up with Genworth Financial on a national research and education program aimed at having conversations about a pressing issue confronting many Americans: how to plan and pay for long term care needs for our aging population. As Rob details in his book -he is now a concerned family man and is talking to Americans about a serious topic - long term care. Rob is a father who recognizes that time is fleeting and understands that planning for the future is a priority. In his youth Lowe experienced caring for aging and ill family members when his maternal grandmother, Mim, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Startling statistics show that a significant number of Americans are financially unprepared for a "healthy retirement" due to the costs of long term care. More than 90% of american adults do not have long term care insurance. 7 in 10 Americans over 65 will need long term care at some point after they age. A private room in a nursing home costs $87,000 a year on average, or $261,000 over three years. 70% believe that affordable care act will cover their long term care – yet neither the Affordable Care Act nor Medicare (except in rare circumstances) does. Department of health and human services projects the population older than 85 will more than double by 2040. Two-thirds of adult Americans report having done little or no planning for the care they might need when they get older.
