(WMC) - A group of Frayser High School students raised enough money to go on a trip to Spain.

Like rock stars being greeted by adoring fans, nine Frayser High School students received a big send off Tuesday morning as they left for Spain.

Innovation Church helped the students raise money for the trip. They organized nearly 100 different fundraisers including car washes and donation drives.

"This will be my first time leaving the country, let alone my first time actually flying," Wanya Smith said.

Smith joins eight of her classmates on the trip of a lifetime.

"Their passion is about allowing these kids the opportunity to be exposed to something different, and if they see something different, they will believe that they can be something different," said Innovation Church's Pastor Marron Thomas.

"I feel like I can do anything now. I can push forward to strive to do anything, because we didn't know where the money was going to come from," Smith said.

The students will spend a week touring Spain's major city's like Barcelona and Madrid.

"When we come back, it's impressed upon them to be leaders; to be strong people in their community," said chaperon Alex Taillie.
