AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

One of the women who accused former magistrate judge and guardian ad litem Doug Nelson of inappropriate behavior during her custody case had her first hearing for a new trial today.

"He came right out and asked what was your sex life like," she told us during our April 2014 investigation. "And I was thinking, okay, we have a problem."

In our initial investigation back in April, she was one of several mothers who spoke out after they said Doug Nelson was inappropriate with them during his tenure as a guardian ad litem on their custody cases.

Today in a Richmond County courtroom, this mother asked Judge Daniel Craig to take a new look at her case.

"The lady simply wants her day in court," said Judge Craig. "She's got evidence, I don't know what it is, I'm not going to pre-judge it. But she wants to present it, I think at a minimum, isn't that what we owe to her?"

The mom said Nelson sent her inappropriate text messages while working on her custody case two years ago, and also asked her what she calls inappropriate questions in-person.

She included screenshots of the messages in a brief filed in October 2013 with the court clerk's office to Judge Daniel Craig. When we reached out to Craig in April 2014, he said it would be "improper for a judge to discuss the accuracy of a brief" with the media.

But today in court, Judge Craig said he is ready to hear the evidence.

"I think it's appropriate that it be introduced. And let's see what we're dealing with here. I think putting some sunshine on this would be beneficial for everybody."
