Tuscaloosa County is sending a 4-H shotgun team to nationals for a skeet shooting competition.
"At first I really didn't know we won state. I was at home when they called me. I was still at Red Eagle shooting. It was kind of surprising because I didn't think we would really win it like that," Grant Madison said.
Coach Chris Jacobs is preparing the team for a trip to Grand Island, Nebraska to compete for a national championship.
"I'm very proud and extremely excited about going. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for these kids," Jacobs said.
Hopes couldn't be aimed higher for these state champions.
"Hopefully, we'll go out there and compete very well and if everything cooperates the right way, we can compete with the majority," Jacobs said.
The shooting team is also asking for help to pay for travel costs. Mail checks payable to Alabama 4-H Club Foundation to:
