Severe Threat Tonight and Sunday

Severe Threat Tonight and Sunday

Most of the stormy weather today has been located over Arkansas, western Tennessee, and northern Mississippi. There is a chance some additional storms could develop further southeast into our state this evening. Any storms that develop may be very strong or severe, especially over western Alabama. The primary threat with any severe storms will be large hail and damaging straight line winds. The chance for a passing shower or storm will linger through midnight.

More storms will be possible tomorrow as a front approaches the state. The primary coverage of storms will be in areas along and south of I-20. The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a slight risk for severe weather tomorrow. Therefore, there is a greater concern for the potential of severe storms capable of producing damaging straight-line winds and hail.

Monday looks to be one of the hottest days next week. An afternoon shower or storm can't be ruled out but we're expecting the coverage to really thin out. High temperatures will be approaching 90° with heat indices in the mid to upper 90s. The coverage of storms will start to increase again on Tuesday as another disturbance approaches. I will have more details on what to expect through mid-week plus a radar update after the baseball game on Fox6…be sure to join us!
