ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A fire in Etowah County claimed the life of a nine-year-old boy Monday night.

The fire happened at a mobile home in Keener on Highway 11. Authorities identified the boy as Callister Atchley. His body has been sent to Huntsville for an autopsy.

Three other people inside the mobile home were injured. Jennifer Bates, 33, was flown to Birmingham for treatment. A 10-year-old girl was also taken to a Birmingham hospital and a 4-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

The State Fire Marshall's office said this fatality makes 61 fire deaths in the state this year.

In an attempt to prevent more deaths, the Alabama Fire Chiefs Association is holding a press conference to launch a "Turn Your Attention to Fire Prevention" Campaign that promotes responsibility and fire awareness.

The conference will take place Wednesday, June 4, at 1 p.m. at the Alabama Fire College.
