CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
One person is dead following a multiple vehicle accident on Interstate-26 just after 3 p.m. Saturday.
Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say a car driving west along I-26 attempted to get off at the Remount Road exit and sideswiped another vehicle. Troopers say this led to a chain reaction involving four vehicles total.
According to officials, after sideswiping another vehicle, the driver attempting to get off the interstate then crashed into the retaining wall.
Officials say the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the wall died, and four others were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of the crash as 20-year-old Omea Johnson, of Charleston.
