Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams is now identifying the man whose body was recovered from the Alabama River around 2:15 Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff Williams says 50-year-old Frederick Young of Hope Hull, drowned after his boat spun around and hit him.
A preliminary investigation indicates the man's boat shut off, and when he restarted it, the boat was either still in gear or shifted into gear. That's when it's believed he fell into the river.
Deputy Coroner Walter Hill says it appears to be a case of accidental drowning.
The Sheriff's Department and Army Corps of Engineers assisted in the recovery of Young's body, which was found near Henderson Landing Road.
