BESSEMER DAY OF PRAYER - The Woodland Hills Church of God of Prophecy (673 Memorial Drive, Bessemer, Al. 35022) will host a prayer service outside of the church building on Sunday from 11-11:45am. They welcome everyone to come for a time of prayer and healing. They invite you to come as you are - dirty from clean up or in whatever you're comfortable wearing. ALABAMA GULF COAST ZOO FLOODING - The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo experienced some flooding problems this week. The keepers and crew had to wade through water to tend to the animals. Janice talked with them about the situation. They are greatful for all of the help and support from volunteers! SPIDERMAN - Janice talks with Stan Daniel from Kingdom Comics about the new Spider-Man movie - "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." He recommended seeing it in 3-D and said that it was very much like a comic book. It opens in theaters natiowide today. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is rated PG-13.
JEH JEH LIVE - Trussville City Fest (formerly Dog Daze) is a fun, family event in historic downtown Trussville. This annual event is going on 34 years now. This year's festival will be a one day event - Saturday, May 3rd. Trussville City Fest will begin at 11am and finish with a fireworks show at 9pm. RUNNING OF THE CHIHUAHUAS - Alabama Beverage is hosting a ‘Run of the Chihuahua's' tomorrow at Regions Field. This tradition started in California in 2007 by Petco. Currently there are races run in cities like Albuquerque, NM; Chattanooga, TN; Chandler, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Pensacola, FL; Washington, DC (one of the largest); and Mobile. This is the first year for the race in Birmingham. Some of the races have over 100 dogs enter and over 5000+ people attend. The dogs pre-register and then race in heats of 3-6 dogs in as many as three qualifying races. They widdle down the winners to get to the championship race! The races in Birmingham take place tomorrow between noone and 4pm. The finals will be during the 7th inning of the Barons game along the first base dugout! Often the owners dress their dogs up and sometimes they even wear costumes to match the dogs.
